The Russian Soviet Occupation of Estonia lasted from 194-41 and 1944-1991. For long 48 years Estonia, has been a part of Soviet Union – USSR. During almost half a century, each of the leaders of the Soviet Union left their marks in Tallinn. And even now – over 24 years after independence of Estonia was restored, there are still many sites in its capital city related with the Soviet Communism Era.
Discover with us all important sites related with Soviet era in capital of Estonia and give yourself a chance to hear the stories of the life behind the Iron Curtain. We will begin with numerous remains of the Soviet past: buildings of former military and civil plants, residential quarters of apartment buildings, cemeteries of the Russian soldiers who fell in WWII. The next stop during our tour will be Olympic village reminding of Olympic yachting competition which took place in 1980 in Tallinn. Then you'll see TV Tower and the Big House – notorious KGB building and Soviet time prison, nowadays being neglected. Difficult past of Estonia is also presented in the Occupations Museum which we will visit, so you can learn the history on 1st Soviet, Nazi Germany and 2nd Soviet Russia occupations. During whole tour we will be discussing about life in that time, myths and reality.
The tour will also include the brief tour of the Old town with its history.
